Bahrain-based fintech Infinios has launched operational stablecoin settlement services in partnership with Mastercard (NYSE:MA), reportedly becoming the first issuer in the Kingdom of Bahrain to do so. The move enables the use of regulated stable digital currencies for settlement processes and positions Bahrain more strongly as a regional center for financial technology innovation.
According to recent reports, Infinios, a specialist in digital financial infrastructure headquartered in Bahrain and regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain, has commenced these settlement operations after meeting the required regulatory and technical standards.
As a principal member of the Mastercard network, the company can now apply stablecoins to funding and settlement activities, offering institutional clients and partners alternatives to conventional fiat-only methods.
Sherif Abdelsalam, CEO of Infinios, described the development as a significant milestone in advancing money movement that is faster and more transparent.
He noted that it demonstrates Bahrain’s ongoing leadership in creating digital payment solutions and supporting the broader shift toward digital finance.
The capability is expected to deliver improvements in speed, visibility, and efficiency while maintaining high standards of compliance and trust.
Saud Sawar, Mastercard’s regional director for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, and other Arab East markets, stated that the company is leveraging its global network to promote the future of stablecoin adoption.
He highlighted efforts to accelerate the creation of reliable digital settlement infrastructure at an institutional level through collaboration with Infinios.
This integration forms part of Mastercard’s wider strategy to incorporate blockchain applications into global payment systems and connect traditional financial structures with digital assets.
Stablecoin settlement allows participants to clear transactions using digital tokens designed to hold steady value, typically linked to major currencies.
This can help overcome limitations associated with standard banking schedules, such as delays over weekends or holidays, and support better liquidity management, particularly for cross-border flows common in the region.
For issuers, acquirers, and merchants, the option provides greater flexibility alongside existing processes.
Infinios has established itself as a key player in the regional payments landscape, including as one of the larger processors of virtual commercial cards.
Its focus on compliant, future-oriented solutions for global commerce underpins this latest step.
The live activation follows earlier collaborations aimed at expanding stablecoin capabilities across the Middle East, including partnerships that support digital asset infrastructure.
The development underscores growing institutional interest in regulated digital assets for practical payment and settlement use cases.
By enabling on-chain options within a trusted network framework, it contributes to more efficient transaction flows while preserving security and dispute protections associated with established card systems.
As adoption progresses, such initiatives may further enhance financial connectivity and inclusion across the Middle East, giving businesses and financial institutions additional tools for managing value transfer in an increasingly digital environment. Infinios’s operational launch with Mastercard represents a concrete advance in bringing these capabilities into active use within Bahrain’s regulatory framework.
