Institutional digital asset markets still suffer from a familiar problem: capital is often trapped in disconnected systems. Liquidity sits across venues, regions, and product types, and the tools used to move it rarely line up with the processes firms already run. EDX Markets and Fireblocks say they have taken a step toward closing that gap.
On September 9, 2026, the two companies announced that EDX has connected to Fireblocks Network Link, giving institutions a more direct way to transfer, allocate, and rebalance digital assets without standing up a separate operational stack.
EDX Markets operates an institution-only trading venue paired with a central clearinghouse.
Fireblocks, which the firms describe as an enterprise platform that has secured more than $16 trillion in digital-asset activity, provides the custody, transfer, and connectivity layer many of those institutions already use.
Network Link is the interface that lets exchanges and other service providers appear inside Fireblocks workflows.
For EDX clients who already work in that environment, the practical effect is simpler: they can fund accounts, shift balances, and move assets into and out of the EDX ecosystem through processes they control.
That matters because regulated firms expanding into crypto often inherit operational fragmentation. Separate liquidity pools, different geographic rails, and mismatched product models force treasury and trading teams to maintain parallel procedures.
The new connection is designed to collapse some of that duplication.
Instead of treating EDX as an isolated destination that requires its own funding choreography, institutions can treat it as another destination inside a familiar Fireblocks workflow.
Capital can be allocated across accounts and rebalanced as market conditions change, rather than locked in place until a manual transfer is completed.
Tony Acuña-Rohter, chief executive of EDX Markets, framed the move as infrastructure, not marketing.
Institutional adoption, he argued, will not scale unless digital asset rails can match the speed and efficiency firms expect from traditional markets.
Enabling Network Link, he said, makes it easier to move capital into and out of EDX inside existing processes.
The collaboration, in his telling, is about reducing friction so participants can put capital to work when opportunities appear rather than when operational bottlenecks allow.
The announcement also emphasizes control.
By cutting the number of venue-specific workflows, firms can deploy capital more quickly while keeping tighter oversight of holdings.
Funding and rebalancing become responses to trading demand instead of separate projects.
EDX’s clearing model already aims to simplify post-trade activity through net settlement for spot trading.
Layering a more connected transfer path on top of that structure is intended to tighten the loop from execution to movement of assets.
Both companies present the partnership as part of a broader shift toward connected market infrastructure.
As digital-asset markets mature, they argue, trading, clearing, and asset management need fewer handoffs and less custom plumbing.
