NEAR Protocol rolled out NEAR Business on October 20, 2026, introducing a confidential multi-signature treasury platform designed for crypto-native companies, funds, digital asset firms, and institutional teams.
The service consolidates payments, asset swaps, capital allocations, and balance management into one shared dashboard spanning more than 35 blockchains and over 200 assets.
Supported networks include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and NEAR itself, along with others such as Arbitrum, Base, Avalanche, the XRP Ledger, Sui, and TON.
Teams can handle employee payroll, vendor disbursements, cross-chain exchanges, and portfolio moves without juggling separate interfaces or external bridges for each chain.
The platform addresses longstanding frictions in on-chain finance.
On public ledgers, payroll amounts, counterparties, and treasury holdings are visible to anyone using a block explorer, exposing sensitive business details.
Operational workflows often scatter across multiple tools for approvals, execution, and record-keeping.
NEAR Business keeps transaction amounts, recipient details, and overall balances private while preserving publicly checkable governance records.
Organizational members, roles, and approval votes remain on-chain so outsiders can verify that rules were followed, yet the financial specifics stay restricted to the authorized team and its auditors.
Under the hood, each organization controls a self-custodial Treasury Contract deployed on NEAR.
The contract, modeled on established multi-signature principles, enforces custom approval thresholds set by the team.
Once the required signers approve a request, NEAR’s multi-party computation network completes the signing.
Funds reside within the NEAR Intents protocol rather than in a conventional wallet that NEAR itself can access.
NEAR Business holds no keys capable of unilaterally moving assets or overriding organizational rules.
Cross-chain transfers and swaps execute through NEAR Intents, which abstracts away traditional bridging steps and destination-chain gas requirements.
Additional capabilities include bulk payments that can be entered manually or uploaded via CSV for payroll, grants, or vendor batches; hardware wallet signing through Ledger; support for multiple treasuries under a single view; named and verified contacts to reduce addressing errors; and exportable transaction histories suitable for accounting and external audits.
Payments to other business.near.com accounts settle inside the confidential environment, while transfers to external public wallets originate from a settlement account rather than the treasury’s direct address, further limiting public linkage.
Confidential receipts accompany each action for internal records.
Access begins on an invitation-only basis during the private beta.
Interested organizations can request early access at the platform’s website; NEAR aims to schedule a short walkthrough within one business day.
Pricing is structured to lower barriers: the service carries no subscription, annual commitment, or per-seat charges.
The platform sponsors network fees for the first 1,000 actions each month, after which standard fees apply, and token swaps incur a 0.35 percent fee only when executed.
Unlimited treasuries and users are included from the outset.
By extending NEAR Intents—previously used mainly for individual and retail cross-chain swaps—into institutional treasury workflows, the launch positions the infrastructure for broader enterprise and fund use cases.
It offers a practical middle path between fully transparent public wallets and expensive traditional custody platforms, combining self-custody, multi-chain reach, and controlled confidentiality without requiring long-term contracts or high setup costs. The move continues NEAR’s emphasis on unifying liquidity and execution across chains while adding privacy layers suited to real-world financial operations.
